Becoming the End of the World

Today all Patagonia encompasses a population of about 2 million people. Patagonia is comprised of two countries, Argentina and Chile.

It’s not hard to imagine how Patagonia, which sits at the tip of South America, could be considered the end of the world. This idea persisted for centuries. Just getting to Patagonia required sailing through dangerous waters. The distance and location inspired strange folklore about mysterious gigantic beings with peculiar habits.
